Manscaped Performance Package 4.0 Review

Christmas is right around the corner. This means last-minute shopping, Holiday deals, and some kisses under the mistletoe. When kissing leads to alternative ways to keep warm on cold winter nights, the Admiral likes to make sure that his lower decks are smooth. This is where the heavily marketed Manscaped products come in.

Manscaped logo

Manscaped was founded in 2016 by Paul Tran to fill the gap in male body grooming products. Since then, the company has become a sponsor for numerous YouTubers, Instagram influencers, and other online personalities. Mass organic marketing and juvenile testicle-related humor put Manscaped and its products in front of millions of Internet users, including yours truly.

A Holiday Deal

Since I was seeking a replacement body grooming shaver that would be easy to use, waterproof, and safe for my nether regions, I set my sights on purchasing a Manscaped body grooming kit. Using a promo code from a Primm’s Hood Cinema video (a hilarious channel, by the way), I purchased the Manscaped Performance Package 4.0. The grooming kit is valued at $217.93, but with holiday specials and the promo code, I snagged it for $98.31.

Manscaped Lawn Mower 4.0 compared to my trusty old Phillips Norelco Bodygroom BG2040

Manscape’s flagship product is The Lawn Mower 4.0, advertised as using innovative SkinSafe technology. There is nothing innovative about the trimmer at all. The trimmer uses a plastic guard that has been moved back a few millimeters to prevent knicks and cuts. The blade guard cannot be adjusted, so the Manscaped Lawn Mower cannot deliver the smooth shave that I would want before getting intimate with that special lady.

The device’s motor is also very weak compared even to clippers that can be bought at a big-box retailer. A weak motor and a non-adjustable blade guard make the Lawn Mower 4.0 a poor choice for manscaping purposes. Men with thick or curly hair can expect follicles to be pulled rather than neatly shaven. The product fails to deliver, especially at its price point. It does have a neat LED light on it, though. I suppose that one could use it as a backup flashlight in the event of a power outage.

Other Goodies in the Manscaped Performance Package

The flagship Lawn Mower 4.0 is a disappointing product, but the Manscaped Performance Package comes with other goodies. These goodies include the Weed Whacker (an ear and nose hair trimmer), Crop Preserver (ball deodorant), Crop Reviver (ball spray toner), and Magic Mat (essentially a newspaper with more testicle-related humor that can be placed on the ground to shave over). Having made my order as part of the Holiday deal, I also received a travel bag and pair of Manscaped boxers. None of these additional goodies are worth the price, and I am unimpressed overall. The Weed Whacker has the same underpowered motor problem that the Lawn Mower suffers from. The boxers are good, though, and probably the only item that I would rate highly in the entire package.

Customers interested in purchasing the Manscaped Performance Package should also be aware that the package comes with an attached quarterly subscription for shipments of Manscaped items. The base cost for the Peak Hygiene Plan is $14.99 per shipment. Customers can choose two Manscaped products, such as the ball toner, ball deodorant, or replacement blades to be shipped. These products are decent but not worth $14.99 when comparable products are more affordable or of higher quality. The shipped items and frequency of shipments can be easily customized, however, and the subscription can easily be canceled.

Final Verdict

Manscape claims that the Lawn Mower is specially designed for men to care for their junk. In reality, the conclusion that I have come to is that the product itself is junk. Manscaped gets 1.5 stars out of 5, and that is mainly for admiration for their mass marketing program.

If you want to be groomed downstairs, there are much better and more affordable options. If you are looking for a smooth shave that is safe for your fellows, skip Manscaped and get a good foil shaver. The Bodygroom Series by Norelco has always worked well enough for me so moving forward, I will stick with the tried and true.
